Comment re rig & o/s

It would be nice if we could add *all* our machines to our profile. I am running 4 desktops (The Athlon runs 5 OSs) and 3 laptops (leaving one spot on my hub for a guest.) And I imagine many, if not most, of us have multiple platforms.

ot sure why you want to post all of your machines but you can add them as part of your signature as a few other members do.

Re: Comment re rig & o/s

DaneBrooke,

The reason we don't do that is called resources. There comes a point where we can not add resources and still have the forum operate normally. Therefore, limiting somewhat the content of the forum this way prevents us from taking resources that are needed elsewhere on the forum to operate in an efficient manner.

Right, but with multiple platforms that info all has to be supplied anew every time.

Re: Comment re rig & o/s

I know a lot of the ones I answer have nothing to do with the os or machine in the profile. Would be nice to have this information in the very 1st post.

Good idea, but I think most would not keep it updated - like now with the OS listed under their name. Look in Vista - you will find many OS' listed as XP.

I agree 100% - as many people have more than one system. But...

I prefer various sets of fresh reports to confirm the system info. Too often I have wasted my personal resources looking at a single sysinfo report while processing BSOD dumps... only to find out that the dumps and/or sysinfo report originated from different systems or the wrong system entirely as was in the case of a doctor who had an office network and provided me with dump files from various identical systems - but one sysinfo report.
