St Andrew was one of the original apostles. He was crucified by the Romans on a diagonal cross which is why his flag is a saltire. His bones were moved to Scotland 'cos a monk had a dream that they should be taken to the "ends of the earth". Sorry Glas.

Several of the twelve were crucified like that or upside down, because they did not feel worthy of being crucified like Christ'
