I ought to leave this to Glas but he's gone to bed.
St Andrew was one of the original apostles. He was crucified by the Romans on a diagonal cross which is why his flag is a saltire. His bones were moved to Scotland 'cos a monk had a dream that they should be taken to the "ends of the earth". Sorry Glas.
