Mergeing within 24 hours [Resolved]

Hello,

What is this new thing or hack or what ever you want to call it, and if you post within 24 hours it will merge your two posts?

It is quite annoying because, i will use my example: Kalim was helping me with an problem with IE with my parents computer, and he gave me a set of instructions, I said to him i cant reply until tomorrow because as the other computer is shut down. I then went to reply about 20 minutes ago and it merged the two posts, and you dont get another notification that it has happened.

I can also see why it was done to stop 'Bumping threads'.

Any other thoughts?

Yup. It happened to many people including moderators. GTP replied a day later, yet within the 24 hour "boundary", and the posts were merged. Basically, I wasn't informed of another post in my subscribed list nor my emails, so it's very difficult to keep track this way.

Double-triple posting is simple enough to avoid for those who understand language. If a user cannot stick to that simple kindergarten rule, then the staff should deal with them in the manner that's appropriate. But this new addition causes more problems for all of us following the basic response protocol than good. I am losing track of my threads, and that's about 200 of them.

Maybe this new "feature" should only be applied in the HijackThis Live Range rather than across the entire forum

The one time I actually wanted this thing to work it didnt

Can someone please fix for me the able to edit my posts is comments and announcements and also general secruity?

This update is being discussed in the staff forum at present and Jason will make a decision as to whether it goes or stays until then just be patient.
