Great forum
Ive been on many forums , Motorcycle especially but tech forums as well and this is probably the most insightfull and down right "nice" group Ive seen , many tech forums are good only if your hacker elite or hacker elgible (most of them punks aint hackers anyways , a real hacker was system admin back in the day) , mention your a "noob" and they wont even talk to you , if they do talk to you its to berate you! I never did that , I was resident on a forum back in the 90's for website development (dont ask me now , its way past my head!!) , but I always helped out and back in the bbs days , people always helped out , but then again , the snot nosed kids couldnt get internet access (baud baby , like 2-6 ) hell owning a pc was mega bucks even (unless you built your own!)
Anyway , I am gonna stick around for awhile and relearn the industry! Or until you kick my *** out of here! I get very opinionated , so I way do well to stay out of the political arena! But then again its all in fun ,right! Thanks guys!

Re: Great forum
I can relate to what your saying. Welcome. This has been a job and a hobby
for a couple of decades for me as well. Lots of changes. I, like you have been a member of different tech and bike forums. Until I found this forum it was always the same ole thing, everyone waiting to flame you, try and demean you, got real old real quick. You try and help someone and you get slammed for it. Nobody knows it all, we all make mistakes, misdiagnosis, hard to do the tech thing remotely, but we try. Ive been here as long as I have, because you dont have that ego driven crap. Stick around you will see what Im talkin about.

Re: Great forum
I have a background in computing since early 1980, and was on USENET for quite some time and involved in early software development/testing. I'm very well aware of what's around online for quite some time and this place is very unique, mainly due to the authorities (older staff) and elders who shape and straighten the younger fella's. Otherwise, this place would be an equal wreck like many others.

I agree with all the posts so far on this thread.
I have only been a member for several days & in nearly 12 years of accessing the net, have come across some terrible forums(being polite). Due to a serious problem I could not solve, I searched the net for help. TSF was the 1st site I came across, and it has restored my faith in genuine people wishing to help. Fairly recently, I posted a question, which to me seemed reasonable. Looking back on it, it wasn't very precise and more than likely, ambigious. Johnwill posted a reply and on reading, I felt stunned until I stepped back and thought about it. Johnwill was correct in his actions and I had to reply to clarify the situation. The replies were very pleasant and courteous, whereas in the past I would have been blasted. It cost me a finger and I genuniely appreciate the fact that I have found a friendly, courteous and very informative site. To all the staff that maintain this site, please continue with the excellent work. Kind regards to all at TSF.
