Rants, raves, and general ramblings from a 26 year-old computer technician and gamer.

Some of this weblog may include me going off about my job as a tech support specialist for TimeWarner Cable. Other times I may be singing praises about the latest new release from Valve. There may be periods of complete silence countered by large brain dumps that occur at regular intervals.

I wanted to be a doctor.

Half-Life 2 is AWESOME

Posted 01-03-2008 at 03:43 PM by ebackhus (She says I'm a dork.)

I played the first Half-Life back in 1998 on my 366Mhz Gateway. I had just bought a GeForce 2MX 200 (PCI version) and was basking in the glory of gaming at 1024x768 with 2X anti-aliasing. Repeatedly falling into a green radioactive pit soon killed that happiness...

I never finished Half-Life.

two weekends ago I bought Orange Box which includes Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2.

Am I in the wrong?

I work in a library that provides Internet and Web access to patrons free of charge. The connection is not filtered and the only way we can make sure it's being used in a decent manner is to give a quick visual sweep of the screens and rely on reports from concerned patrons.

One of the most popular sites is the horrific ****le on the butt of the Web known as MySpace.

From the time we open to the time we close no less than 50% of our machines and 90% of our bandwidth...

What is it with Dell keyboards?

Posted 12-31-2007 at 02:39 PM by ebackhus (She says I'm a dork.)

They are noisy, they attract more dirt/dust, and they wear out at an incredible pace.

Where I work we use nothing but Dell equipment. That means shoddy Dell PCs that break down every few weeks, Dell monitors that have the shortest life span I've ever seen, Dell keyboards that jam up and become posessed, Dell mice that stop letting you click and scroll... I could go on.
