Rants, raves, and general ramblings from a 26 year-old computer technician and gamer.

Some of this weblog may include me going off about my job as a tech support specialist for TimeWarner Cable. Other times I may be singing praises about the latest new release from Valve. There may be periods of complete silence countered by large brain dumps that occur at regular intervals.

I wanted to be a doctor.

that's just biased. gateway has improved greatly these few years and have fairly good reliability and performance now. i saw a $1399 laptop on review at pc magazine, with 4gb RAM, an 8800M GTS card, 320GB 7200rpm HDD, and core 2 duo T-8000's (forgot what model). i would have bought that if it wasn't for my current PC.

There has to be some corners cut to put it all together.

of course, but, as PC magazine said, they "cut the right [corners]". well, i don't have any experience with gateway, but apparently it has a fairly good reputation nowadays.

I have extensive experience with them. For a while they were great machines that had performance, reliability, and price point that made them easy to obtain. The glory days are gone.
