Is it murder to kill a computer?

Posted 11-29-2007 at 10:50 PM by sinclair_tm
Because that's what I wanted to do today. My dad got a wireless card for his older laptop, and installed it, but it didn't seem to want to connect to our router that we have, and that I and my brother have been using just fine. So I whip out my iBook to see if we can do a computer to computer network, and bam, now I can't connect to the router. We go check my brother, and he's still surfing away. Well, to make a long story short, we do all kinds of trouble shooting. He has a USB wireless adapter, and it connects just fine. He reinstalled the software for the card and after a few minutes, it decides to connect and be happy. But my laptop still won't connect. I even forced it to rebuild the network settings and no go. Then when I was just about to give up, it connected and all was well! What on earth? Computers are such a pain.

It is only murder to take the life of a living organism, and a computer does not come under that category, so it isn't murder, i think computers come under the whole Inanimate object list.

you must be new to the world of computers, as i'm sure anyone that has had to work with them for a number of years can tell you that they are alive.

i must agree with sinclair_tim... computers are alive, and are in no way inanimate.. they have a mind of their own.

Somedays I really wonder WHY I got into the IT biz. Even while playing Half-Life today I had a mouse go out and my keyboard likes to stop working for short bursts.

A few of you seem to have had some bad hardware luck. Apart form an obvious failure, Ive never really had anything buggy or tempremental. Guess I just have good hardware karma.
