I think I make a boo boo

I was dissatisfied with my Craftsman 675 series tendency to bog down and I rigged the throttle to operate faster. Within minutes the darn thing shut down and when I went to start it back up, I blew smoke out the engine. Not the muffler, mind you. I just packed it up and called it a day but considering the symptoms, what sort of damage can I expect to find after over-accelerating?

Where did the smoke come from? What color?

When you pull the recoil starter cord, does it feel the same or easier ?

Over speeding the engine is never good. Possible valve train/connecting rod issues.

Re: I think I make a boo boo

The smoke was thick white. Sort of like cigarette smoke. Not like puffy smoke from the muffler. The pull feels the same and there are no unusual noises. I opened the valve cover/piston chamber and there is caked on burnt waste but I cleaned most of it up. Still no start.
