[SOLVED] Swisher Sting Mower with 6.5HP Briggs
I have been having some trouble getting this string mower to run right. It wants to work the governor on the carb back and forth slightly and continually. Doesn't really surge, but doesn't run smooth like it used too. It lacks full power and stumbles. I have had the carb off a couple of times and did not notice an adjustment screw. Is the adjustment screw capped off? I was thinking that it just had no adjustment. I have sprayed out every hole I can find on the carb. All seems clean. Also swapped out the plug and checked the flywheel key. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Swisher Sting Mower with 6.5HP Briggs
No such luck on an adjustment screw. I looked it over close and this carb has no adjustment. I would sure like to find a replacement carb to go on it, maybe one that is a little better quality with an adjustment screw. It is a quantum 6.5 Briggs.

Re: Swisher Sting Mower with 6.5HP Briggs
Thanks. Ended up getting the string mower to run right this morning. Had to run wire through the plug on the bottom of the carb. In order to get a piece of welding wire through the center, vertical, hole, which is a very small diameter, I had to grind down the diameter of the wire some and put a point on it. Previously, I had sprayed cleaner through the hole and compressed air (several times). Cleaner and air would go through it well, but I guess that was not going to cut it (I guess).
Reassmbled it one more time, and it runs great now. The governor is no longer hunting. |
