15.5 briggs gas pours out carb.

have a craftsman ridingmower 15.5 briggs just started pouring gas out of the carb its one of those that has that electricial thing connected to the bottom of the bowl could that be bad and how would you take it off do you need a special tool..just remembered on the bottom of the float bowl its called the fuel soleoid i,ve had a murry in the past that was having carb problems could this soleoid be the problem here too and could you grind down a wrench to fit it to take it off

The float or needle valve is probably stuck, dirty or damaged.

i was thinking that too but on these newer briggs carbs they have the electronic fuel solnoid on the bottom of the bowl doesnt that control your gas,float and how do you remove it

The fuel solenoid does not shut off the gas flow to the carb. That's the float's job. The fuel solenoid shuts off fuel to the main jet.

The solenoid unscrews from the bottom of the carb, if you don't have a wrench thin enough to fit in there you may have to either buy one or grind one down a bit.

for about a year now if i was mowing and turned it off all the gas would drain out from the carb so a year or so ago i put a gas shut off valve on it and it would run fine long as i shut the valve off when i was done up till now ...do you think a new float needle valve would fix it

Yes that could be the problem, also check the float itself, and the hinge pin for excessive wear or damage.

SOLVED....i took the carb apart and it was full of rust from the bowl i cleaned it all out real good and put a new float needle in and its running..thanks
