Honda 2113 my backside v's seat sensor

My Honda mower's seat sensor does not recognised when I sit on! It does for other people, it wont go for me unless I press my feet firmly and pull on my hands ans sit jamming myself into the seat.

I am only 9 1.2 stone and have a narrow bum!

(No suggestions please regarding changing personal physique )

Can I adjust the sensor or disable it?

Re: Honda 2113 my backside v's seat sensor

Hi, I don't really know anything about Honda lawn mowers, but for the set sensor, it is usually just a button that gets pushed. I have never saw one that is hard to move like you are saying.

It might be the deshing of it though. Some will have it where the sensor is on a plate that is held up with springs. When you sit down, it shoud compress those springs and push on the sensor.
Others have the sensor in the seat, and I think when you sit down you also sit on the sensor.

Just look for where the sensor is. As I said it is usually just a button, and it has usually 2 wires coming out of it.

It might be how you sit also. When I mow the lawn, if i mow the wrong way sometimes, the sensor won't pick up that I'm still on the mower and start to shut the engine off.

I don't want to tell you to disable it, it is a safty feature, although it can be annoying (especially when mowing around trees), it is there for a reason.

yes, it does have 2 springs. They are very strong! We tested it today with other people on it and they moved the springs no problem. The springs are set quite far apart and my bum does not 'fill' the seat. It was quite obvious to those watching the lack os spring movement when I sat down!!!

Re: Honda 2113 my backside v's seat sensor

You can look to take the springs off and maybe changed them out for some weaker springs (they really only need to compress with like 20 pounds or so I think and sorry, I haven't heard of stones until recently so I don't know much about it except it is a weight).

Taking the springs off would basically disable the switch. Now sure how easy they are to remove, but maybe take one off, might work, but it might put the seat sideways.

I'm wondering if this lawn mower was mad kid proof also, which would explain why the springs might be so strong. The one lawn mower we have that still has a functioning seat sensor has very weak springs, that probably with 5 or 10 pounds on the seat will push it down far enough.
