Cry my mower is not happy...

hey there. o.k. so I was cutting grass on my rider when all of a sudden it just turned off like like i turned off the ignition. I put the machine in neautral and tried to restart, nothing engine only cranks will not start. I pulled the plug replaced w/ new one and, nothing. Ipulled plug and wire off and triedto crank and i see no spark at plug. checked neutral safety sensor and seat sensor by jumping wires w/ paperclip but still no spark could the coil have just died that suddenly? I also removed all connections and sanded to make sure i have good contact even on coil and flywheel (magnetron coil) no points or anything. It's a briggs 11hp. model 253707 vertical shaft motor that does not like me thanks for any help with her...

Re: my mower is not happy...

I think your on the right track, try to un-plug the ignition wires off of the key switch, jump the poles across the solonoid,if it starts with the ignition un-plugged its the ignition key switch,If its not that check all the saftey switches and look closley at the black wire running to the coil, its the kill switch wire, sometimes they short out and kill all spark to the plug, also check the ignition fuse

Re: my mower is not happy...

To check whether it's a switch, unplug that black wire at the coil. That isolates any and all switches. If the you still aren't getting a spark, replace the coil.
