Carb help?? Throttle lever/shaft

I have a 12 hp B&S vertical shaft engine (Model 281707-0175-01). The very poor parts list that I downloaded from B&S website shows a part #987 on the throttle lever. By the picture it would appear that the seal (#987) would go on the side where the govenor linkage connects. This whole throttle assy fell apart on mine and I can't verify that there was one on this side, but I can verify that there is one on the other side of the carb.

Is the diagram wrong? Is there a seal on both sides, because there is a recess in the carb on both sides, but diagram doesn't specify if 2 is required? Some other diagrams show the same part (a rubber seal) on the other side opposite from the diagram for my model. Would any of you out there with more experience possibly clarify this for me?

Much thanks ahead of time!

Re: Carb help?? Throttle lever/shaft

Looks like just the one #987, the other side would be 634B, best I can tell.

Re: Carb help?? Throttle lever/shaft

Thanks, I just wish they would make the diagrams a little clearer, but then again its a 1990 model and it runs great. Found a newer model with a better diagram, but looks to be almost exact same carb., but it shows that seal on the other side. I'm going to run it by a shop and see if they can tell me.
