Problem with Briggs and Stratton 5 HP
I own an MTD wood chipper shredder that has a 5 HP Briggs and Stratton engine (130212-1731-01)... After it runs for 10 to 15 minutes, it starts to backfire and shoot flames out of the exhaust... Anyone have any ideas on what this could be and if it is an expensive fix??

Re: Problem with Briggs and Stratton 5 HP
Hi and welcome to the forum
![]() Sorry no one has gotten back to you sooner. I am thinking I would check the key way, on the flywheel, it may be a little sheared off and the spark is a little to advanced. Reference: http://outdoorpowerinfo.com/repairs/flywheel_key.asp BG |
