B&S 4.5 HP sluggish power

I was cutting my grass one day and ran out of fuel. so i simple refueled and resumed. 5 min later, the engine started to run sluggish. It was late so i quit working. a week later, i replaced the spark plug, cleaned the gas tank and carb, sharpened the blade, and changed the oil. still sluggish power, and it emits a faint white smoke. it is stored outside because i have no inside storage for it. what else could be the problem.

Hi:

Sorry no one got back to you.

Any chance you got some bad gas, since I assume it is stored outside also?

On the smoke, some thing in the gas, or the engine oil. It could just be that the engine is getting old and some wear on it. If you are not using a straight 30W oil, try it. Most mowers suggest it, not a 10w30.

I think basementgeek could be correct.
If the gas can is stored outside it is possible that condensation formed inside and there is water in the gas. This would explain the white smoke.
It is the easiest thing to try first.
