Briggs won't start
I have a B&S 252707 engine on a snapper mower. The engine died and now it won't start. I've recently replaced the magneto and put new seals and jets in the carb. I've disconnected the stop wire and there isn't a spark. The resistances on the magneto look fine. Any suggestions?

Re: Briggs won't start
Check around and make sure that none of the wires are chafed and making contact with the case.
Also if the mower shuts off when the handle is disengeged check that switch. |

Re: Briggs won't start
Hello Buggs
Re-check your connections, make sure you have not accidentally disconnected the wires leading to the primary side of the coil. Use continuity test on DVOM to check wires from the switch to the primary. Check the coils resistance on the primary and secondary with DVOM see that it is within specs. Also check to make sure that the jets you replaced are the appropriate diameter for that particular carb. Installing incorrect jets will cause hydro lock flooding the engine. |
