Intek 6.5HP surging
Hi, Hopefully someone can give me a clue on what to try next. I have a tiller with an Intek 6.5HP engine that starts and idles fine but has a hard time at high speed or under load. If I give it full throttle it surges. The throttle opens and closes, back and forth. I've cleaned fuel/tank, new plug, changed oil and removed and clean carb. How can I tell if the governor linkage is working? What should I look at next?
Thanks, Todd. Last edited by lego_man; 04-18-2009 at 07:36 PM. Reason: spelling |

Re: Intek 6.5HP surging
If you haven't "rebuilt" the card with an overhaul kit, at least a new inlet needle and seat, than that's what you have to do next. With the fuel so bad nowadays, the seat swells up and pushes the float to a lean position, and the only way to correct it is with a new seat. Float should be close to level, and if it's high when the carb is inverted, then it is too lean.
