Metal shavings in Ariens 624 auger gearcase
I was changing the auger gearcase fluid in my Ariens 264 snowblower and I noticed the fluid was teeming with thousands of barely visible brass flakes. I can't believe this is normal wear. The machine has only about 25 hours on it and has been working fine. Can I just change out the fluid or do I need to tear down, clean, and rebuild the gearcase? Thanks for any thoughts

Re: Metal shavings in Ariens 624 auger gearcase
May just be break in particles. Refill and use and check frequently for more particles. You may also try to flush out the case to remove all the brass chunks first, most gear set are on steel and one brass (this is from my tiller experience, I have no experience on snow blowers).
