Riding lawn mower problem (carb i think it is)

i have a murray rider with a tecumseh formula 8hp engine on it...last summer it just died all of the sudden then leaked gas and oil all over out of the carb so i got a rebuild kit for it like what the local lawn shop told me to get rebuilt it and now i dont think it is getting gas to the engine. gas is in the bowl of the carb but it wont start...i have tried a lot of things which has been starting fluid and spraying carb cleaner all over it...anyone have some suggestions?

Have you checked the spark?

Does it have a fuel solenoid (are there wires connected to the bottom of the carb).

Re: Riding lawn mower problem (carb i think it is)

nope all it has is the fuel line that hooks up to it...my cousin and uncle are mechanics and he said their snow blower did the same thing they said it was the needle on the float....he said the new needles go bad cause of the new gas with more ethenol....so i guess i will give that a try when i get it back.

Re: Riding lawn mower problem (carb i think it is)

I thought you said you rebuilt it? A new needle & seat should be part of a rebuild.
