Tecumseh Carb Problem

I have a rear tine tiller with a Tecumseh 6hp engine. The problem is that it will start but the only way to keep it running is to hold in the primer bulb. As long as I keep it pushed in, it will run fine, but if I let off on it, the engine dies immediately. Would anyone happen to know what the problem could be? The engine tiller is almost 10 years old but the carb is only 2 years old.

Thank you for your time,
PaulNKS

Re: Tecumseh Carb Problem

Might need a new primer bulb depending on the style. Try that first, and go through the carb.

Re: Tecumseh Carb Problem

K-B,
Thanks for the reply. I had gone throught the carb and made sure it was clean and no obstructions, etc... I didn't think about it being the primer bulb... and sure enough there was a very tiny tear near the ring that holds it in place.

Thank you again,
Paul

Re: Tecumseh Carb Problem

Right, if it is the non-vented type, any holes will cause problems.
