Bought a used Lawn General Mower. It is a 17 hp Tecumseh, with a 42" attached mower deck. The deck drive belt on the machine is appearently too big,as it will not turn the deck pulleys. It is too slack. What is the right size v-belt for this machine? Any info is appreciated, as I can no longer easily use a push type mower, due to disability. Thank you.

Re: Riding Mower specs?
Make sure that the belt is routed correctly. Sometimes a spring loaded idler pulley is used in between the engine pulley and the blade pulleys. It could be that the former owner has removed an idler due to lack of a replacement. Make sure that all belt guides are in place as these will prevent the belt from coming off the pulley. Do NOT try to force a new belt over the edge of a pulley to install it. Remember, the belt will be tight only when the blade control is in the "engaged" position.
