Stripped threads

Hey i have a 99 silverado with the vortec 5.3
I went to put a throttle body spacer on and while snugging up the cheap bolts that came in the kit one of them broke, so i took everything back appart and tried to drill out the middle and use a screw extractor. I was not able to get it all the way out and now the threads are stipped. The intake manifold is a hardened plastic and the brass threads are inset or pressed into the manifold or so it seems to me. Just wondering if i can replace them or if i need a new manifold....

Re: Stripped threads

Hi Mike7226

Extract the broken bolt completely, and you can repair the threads using a heli-coil kit thats available at your local autoparts. Time sert is an excellent thread repair kit.

Good luck !
