funny story about a Ford Aerostar minivan

6 cyl plenty of gas, good battery sitting in my neighbors yard won't start, she says can I help it only has 316987 miles on it, and it was running a little rough when she shut it off last time, and smoking so her son replaced the rings for her ( her son has all the brains of a dead cat ) so I figure, wth I'll check it out, so I go down there armed with nothing more than my vacuum gage and a compression tester, tried to start it...nothing, pull all 6 plugs, hook up the compression tester and turned the motor by hand, Compression tester gage didn't even move. So I tell her the bad news, she says, " really? "
I say "yeppers mam its got no compression at all" She opens the back hatch and points at a box of compression rings, and asks " Could these be the problem? my son said it didn't need these since he put new oil rings in" She was pointing at the compression rings that her brain dead son removed and didn't reinstall.
