Lexus ES300 Massive RPM - idle?
Hello everyone!
I'm seeming to have trouble with my car. When I start it up and it's in park the RPM is unstable and is usually at 2000, when I put the car into Drive it goes back to normal of about 1000. Car: Lexus ES300 2001. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks! |

Re: Lexus ES300 Massive RPM - idle?
Hi Alex777
Check for codes that the computer may have picked up and please post them. By your description, the probable cause is the engine has a vacuum leak or a bad TPS sensor. |

Re: Lexus ES300 Massive RPM - idle?
Check the IAC (idle Air control) it maybe stuck from carbon deposits. The IAC on the Lexus is located under the throttle body. There are 2 hoses that block access ,disconnect them and then remove the 2 screws on the IAC. Once the IAC is out use decorbonizer spray clean the IAC and spray into the hole also to break up the deposits inside, also clean out the throttle plate. Reinstall everything and re-check the idle.
post back your findings. Last edited by octaneman; 10-27-2009 at 07:24 PM. |
