Fender bender help!!!

I parked my car in a space near the white line cause of people loading there car, and when I was backing out later I forgot I was close to the white line, and my front fender hit somebody elses.

I would love to pay out of pocket, but didn't think they would allow that so I created a claim with my insurance company, and was wondering if I could pay out of pocket, and cancel the claim or if I would have to pay the insurance company either way cause now they know about the fender bender.

Re: Fender bender help!!!

They probably would not hold it against you if you pay out of pocket.

Do you have any idea what a fender bender can cost? You will shocked!!

I back into my sister-in-law bumper, newer Totoya, dented to bumper. Cost almost $1,000 USD. Wife a couple of years ago backed into our daughter's car, that was over $1200.00 damage.

Fender benders are not cheap.

Re: Fender bender help!!!

It's already reported, your rates will reflect the accident so you might as well let them handle the claim.

Re: Fender bender help!!!

Yeah I know. A new fender for my car is only $100.00. I already fixed it, and the other persons fender just needs a paint touchup. Mine was dented which is fixed, and now just needs painted which I will wait.

My fender has been messed up since i got the car, and I've been working on it, and have a cousin who knows how to do body work on cars so he was going to paint it for me, but doesn't think he can match up the exact color like Maaco.

The costs don't go up much do they? I am really upset right now since I am just a teen, put over $2,000 on dental work, $1,300.00 into 2 good computers. One is for side jobs, and the other is for me.

This economy is killing me. I can't get a good job, and all the jobs I see that I could do require a college degree. I am really smart, but not good on tests or I would go to college.

I was told by my parents that the insurance company will look at the car I swiped, and laugh. They said my insurance won't go up.

Its not like a lot of damage was done or anything. Just paint transfer, except my car had a dent which that fender is messed up to begin with, and I can bend it all sorts of ways with my hands. Fenders are not supposed to be able to bend with 2 hands. My other fender on my car I can't bend at all. Now if I took it off the car I might be able to.

Re: Fender bender help!!!

Depends on the rate structure where you live, in large cities it goes up more then out in the country.

Re: Fender bender help!!!

Help fast. I just thought of something. Wouldn't it be the other drivers fault? When somebody is backing out of a parking spot in a parking lot the other person should be looking for break lights/reverse lights for somebody backing out. I always do that which is why I was never involved in an accident/fender bender.

The other driver is mennonite, and mennonites do anything and everything to get stuff cheap, and blame other people sometimes.

Help is much appreciative.

If I don't recieve a response within 1-2 hours I will have to call my agent, and ask them.

Thanks in advance.

I was very tired yesterday, but I always drive good when I am tired cause I wake up instantly, but I can't think well especially after a fender bender. So I got a lot of rest, and just thought about it this morning when I replayed the fender bender in my head.

Re: Fender bender help!!!

would this info help my case? It was a husband and wife. The wife was driving, and the husband told her to stop the car. She probably had time to back up or whatever, but didn't do so.

That there shows that the wife wasn't really paying attention to the surroundings.

I am almost positive it was a blind spot which is why I didn't see them. I was looking out my windows, but that is all I remember from being in shock which happens after any kind of accident.

My car was only in the parking spot about 1-2 ft. I left my car where it was, turned it off, got out, and checked how far I was in the parking spot, and the other people moved their vehicle right away.

I checked, and my whole car was out of the parking spot except for about 1-2ft of the car was still in the spot.

Re: Fender bender help!!!

They where stopped and you backed into them? That's not going to help your case, even if it's blind spot your still responsible for control of your vehicle, I deal with large trucks backing accidents are always chargeable to the driver now granted commercial drivers as professionals are held to a higher standard but when a moving object hits a non-moving object it the moving objects fault.

How do I even know that they came to a complete stop? I don't. They said they did.

Sounds like it was your fault, you were entering traffic and they had the right of way. They are under no obligation stop for you.

Please avoid saying/implying that Mennonite are bad people. All faiths/beliefs have good people and some bad ones.

Sorry to hear of all your bad luck lately.

Re: Fender bender help!!!

What I meant by mennonites was that some of them care a lot about their cars. Honestly I know for fact that my insurance company will laugh when they see the damage cause its not much at all. My car looked the worst, but I fixed it up already. I still need to buy a new fender, but am going to wait till after winter cause if its going to be a bad winter and I wreck I will be more upset if I put a brand new fender on, and after I put a brand new fender on I am going to MAACO to get a new paintjob. Don't want to lose a new paintjob, and new fender cause of ice/snow.

I did just get promoted at work, and will probably get called off more when the roads are bad which is good.
