98 ford escort almost keeps stalling

My moms 98 Ford Escort has a little over 100,000 miles on keeps almost stalling. When she stops at a stop light it keeps sputtering then she will push the gas in a little and it will act fine till the next stop light. I'm not doing the work myself I just want to know when I take it to get fixed so I have an Idea of what to expect, Thanks.

Re: 98 ford escort almost keeps stalling

Check the vacuum lines. My car was doing the same thing until I made a tiny fix to a small line. Since then my engine's performance has been stellar.

Vacuum leak is a good possibility. The Idle Air Control(IAC) valve may need to cleaned or is failing is another popular problem with the 2.0L Escorts.
