1989 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L NO START

i have an 89 cherokee with a 4.0L in it i just swapped it in out of an 87 cherokee. the problem that i am having is that i have no spark from the coil. i have gone through my chiltons manual and tried all of the troubleshooting that they tell me to do. but i still cant get any spark. the vehicle had no problems before the engine swap, other than the rod knock that caused me to do the swap.

I have tried swapping distributors, coils, plugs, wires, everything i can think of. i am completely stumped. i really hope someone can help me out.

Id go to Cherokeeforum.com, they have way better support for this sort of thing there.
