GMC Safari V6

I have a 94 GMC Safari 4.3L V6 AT engine.

My question is: My transmission will not shift unless I let off the gas - also the vehicle is VERY slow when accelerating, but going on every since I bought the thing April this year.

Transmission fluid is fine, I just replaced the spark plugs, cap and rotor, changed the trans fluid, filter and gasket, changed the oil gasket and filter. And its still happening.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: GMC Safari V6

Check for vaccum leak. Or vaccum line is off. Might be linkage,,

Re: GMC Safari V6

Thanks for your reply, Are you referring to the AC vacuum lines or another set?

I'll check the linkage system, Its rusty under the vehicle, I hate to mess with it.

Re: GMC Safari V6

Does your van have the 700r4 trans or the 4l60e? The 700r4 has a "kick down" cable which could be problematic, the 4l60e is electronic. Also do you know if it is a w, z or x code motor?

Re: GMC Safari V6

I have the VIN Z engine, As for the type of trans I am unsure, but will check the owners manual to see if it lists it.

Re: GMC Safari V6

Ok, after reviewing the underside of the van, I am determined it is a 4L60-E AT GM Trans.
