95 Mercury Tracer Heater Core

I have a 1995 Mercury Tracer Trio, and am trying to replace the heater core.
This vehicle requires the instrument panel and dash to be removed before I can get to the Heating parts. I have managed to get all the way down to removing the dash off the instrument panel but cannot seem to find the clips/screws that hold it on. what am I missing?

Re: 95 Mercury Tracer Heater Core

Hi jdsmith

I am assuming that the cluster is almost out and that something is holding it. First, you must find a way to reach behind the instrument cluster and disconnect the speedometer cable, then undo the wire plugs that are fastened to it . Once all of these things are disconnected, remove the hold down bolts and the cluster should slide right out.

Re: 95 Mercury Tracer Heater Core

I have removed all panels and instrument cluster and the eight bolts that hold the dash and frame (four to the floor pan, and two upper bolts on each side). But it still holds tight like I am missing some bolts somewhere but I cant find them.

Re: 95 Mercury Tracer Heater Core

Have you removed the heater core hoses and checked for any bolts on the firewall that maybe holding it together ?
