4.3 vibration reman engine run great

I have a 1994 s10 blazer with a 4.3 cpi with balance shaft I just installed a reman engine and it has less than 200 miles on it it has a vibration at fro 800 rpm on up steering wheel vibrates not engine vehicle doe not have to be moving or in gear .I have balanced the front of the crank by using washers on one of the front pull bolts as gm service proceedures indicated it took 108 grams to remove the vibration .I want to move the weight to the flexplat usinging j bolts as gm proceedures indicate I know it will take less weight with then hanging on the end of a larger rotating mass but unsure of how much .Has anyone run into a vibration like this that was repaired by repositioning the torque convertor or moving the factory pin in the harmonic balancer I can live with bolt and was in the front pull but ooks kinda crappy..

Re: 4.3 vibration reman engine run great

Were both engines 4.3 balance shaft engines and of the same year? Sounds like it may be the harmonic balancer is wrong for that engine.

Does your flywheel have a offset bolt pattern? So that it can only go in one position? I have a 231 once that vibrated after I rebuilt it because I had the fly wheel in the wrong posistion

Re: 4.3 vibration reman engine run great

Ok thats a good sign.
Well the next thing I'd try is repositioning the torque converter and see what happens. And Have you tried the original Balancer on the new engine?

Re: 4.3 vibration reman engine run great

The balancer currently on it was the one I had on the last engine that was in the vehicle .I am going to try to index the convertor and if that does not work I have two more balancers I may try sence the weights are in different positions on them.

Re: 4.3 vibration reman engine run great

If I may make a suggestion, after you index the balancer, index the other 2 also, and use the one that requires the least ammount of weight.

Re: 4.3 vibration reman engine run great

so I idexed the torque convertor and did not make any difference I removed the weight from the malancer that I had added which was 108 grams and reduced it to 36 grams and installed that to the same location but on the outer edge of the flywhell thinking it would take less weight being futher out from the engine well it made it worse not sure if I need less weight or more but for now I removed it and reinstalled the weights I had on the balancer if any one has suggestions please feel free to post them.
