ford 4.0 overheating
I have a explorer thats over heating. I replaced the thermostat and flushed the radiator. I,ve heard this is a common problem. My son had one and replaced the rad, themo,pump,heater core and head gasket. but never cured the problem. does anybody have an answer?

Hi campbones
Check the radiator fan motor to see if its not seized and it's working properly. Check all wires, fuses, with a test light for current. Use a DVOM to test the fan relay and temperature switch for open circuits. Last edited by octaneman; 09-16-2009 at 12:02 AM. |

if it has the small bypass hose on top of the thermostat housing the connection on top of the thermostat has a habit of blocking through corrosion
i used to use a 1/8th twist drill in my fingers to clear it on a australian ford
