98 Lumina D/S Lower Control Arm
Has anyone replaced a lower control arm on this vehicle?
The problem that Im having is the rear mounting bolt. I can not make it turn and thus can remove it. When I say can not turn it I dont mean that it is stuck in the bushing. Imean this damn thing wont budge. It feels like it is spot welded somewhere but I can see it and dont think that it is. I have a pretty good look at it. Its bad enough that they put them in backwards and Ill probably have to cut and replace them. At the factory they assembled them and then weled the bracket onto the frame. The front bolt is fine and moves easily. Any thoughts? |

more than likely that bolt isnt spot welded..... if thats the original LCA its not going to come out easy! basicly if u dont have a torch u r goin to need a lot of WD 40 and wrench on that bolt as hard as u can!

Yeah I Have stuck bolts before but even hitting it with a hammer did nothing.
And like I say the other bolt is no trouble. |

Re: 98 Lumina D/S Lower Control Arm
I finally got it to move and of course it is frozen to the inner sleeve of the bushing.
Not unexpected, but disappointing. I have an iron worker friend coming today with a blue wrench to expand the bushing collar and Ill get it out. It just sucks. Ill have it back together in about an hour after this. Confucious says: If you have teens with learners permits and telephone poles, life will never be smooth. |
