Re: 92 chevy 1500 pickup engine problems

In the steering column there is a harness that needs to be checked for any broken or loose wires. Wire connections come loose from excessive vibration, check all grounds coming from the steering column that connect to the fuse box, and from the fuse box to the firewall (Note: if equipped with airbag, be extremely careful to avoid deploying the bag causing serious injury !). The firewall connector usually has a bolt running through it securing the harness to the wall, this connector has hundreds of wires running through it that connect to the fuse box. Remove the bolt and check every connection 1-by-1 for looseness or wire shorting, use contact cleaner on the pins when you are ready to re-assemble. Double check the body ground straps, sand them clean and re-tighten ( on some models ).

post back your findings.
