mazda 3 2004

my cel light has come on , I personly think it is my gas cap
when i unscrew now there is no gas pressure escaping .
Before when I unscrewed it to fill up there was gas pressure release
anyone have this experience and any solutions ?
mazda wants 70$ for a new one and if that is not the problem it would be money wasted
thanks

Re: mazda 3 2004

Hi Bar65

The gas cap is a major flawed design on Mazda 3's and is causing the cel to turn on, your gas cap is most likely broken and you have no choice but to replace it. Unfortunately Mazda blames the user for not putting the cap properly and this has become a major issue, Please read the owners manual for proper way to open and close it. Shop around at other dealerships, you will get better deals.
