squelling noise on manual transmission

I hear an intermitten squelling noise when shifting into first gear and sometimes when just moving along slowly with a little gas, there is a new clutch kit with the throw bearing just put in and the noise is still there on a 1994 Ford Ranger. It sound like it is from the middle where the transmissions is connected. Can you help me with this?

Re: squelling noise on manual transmission

Hi chetford94

The squeal noise maybe coming from the throw out bearing riding on the pressure plate teeth. There are clips that hold the throw out bearing on the clutch fork, sometimes those clips break or fall off causing the whole bearing to spin around grinding it on the plate teeth. There should be a small side cover on the transmission, remove the cover visually inspect and check the bearing.

Re: squelling noise on manual transmission

Thanks for replying octaneman, I did replace the throw out bearing and clutch but there was still a chirping sound and that was finally fixed monday which was the 'carry bearing' that is on the end of the transmission which was the incorrect size.
