Re: 91 corsica trunk will not close HELP!!!
From inside of the trunk look through the hole at the back side of the lock.
You will see that it is held in place by a U shaped clip. With a screw driver slide that clip to the side and the lock will come out. Be careful not to drop the clip or the spring on the little shaft. Once the lock is out you can take it to a locksmith who can get the key out. Since it sounds like the key snapped off in the lock there should be enough of it left for him to make you a new key. Then just reverse the process to replace it. I almost forgot.. Dont close the trunk until you do this or it will be much harder. Last edited by pat mcgroin; 05-20-2009 at 07:04 AM. |

Re: 91 corsica trunk will not close HELP!!!
Hi gagirl31060 and welcome to TSF,
It might help if you would post some pictures of the lock, inside and out. Also the catch mounted at the bottom of the trunk that the locking mechanism grabs to hold it closed. If the key is partially turned, it would not extract. Is the key off the neutral position? If you need guidance in posting pictures, we can help. Very best regards, Mack1

Re: 91 corsica trunk will not close HELP!!!
I wonder if the electric solenoid could be energized and keeping a bind on the key assembly. I think I would unplug the solenoid and see if that made a difference.
A little oil worked down beside the key wouldn't hurt. Nice pics octaneman.

Re: 91 corsica trunk will not close HELP!!!
Thanks Mack1
My understanding is key is most likely twisted inside when the lock was forced to open. Gagirl31060 may have no alternative but to grab the key with a set of vice grips and play with it until it releases, or the key breaks. |
