Re: Escort 1.8 ghia x

Sounds like a UK Escort?
Do they have the inertia switch like the US models, if so good place to start look for the reset button.

Is there power too the pump if you jump the relay?
Is the relay a square 5 prong?

Re: Escort 1.8 ghia x

Wot i did was get jump leads cut one end off the set then connected them from a seperate battery then put leads 2 the pump terminals and cud hear the pump working,so went down the wire from bak 2 the front and on metre it says that there r no breaks in the wire, but wen i put the petrol cut off switch bak on,there is no power goin 2 the pump, the relay is a 5 prong and i got it from ford, fanks craig

Have a look at this diagram it should look like the pin pattern of your solenoid.

Re: Escort 1.8 ghia x

Ayup wrench 97,fanks 4 keeping in touch, rite wot i hav dun now is put a live feed straight 2 petrol pump which is now workin wen ignition is turned on,but still the fing wont start, ive noticed in the driver side footwell area in top right hand corner, there is a box that says lk & alarm remote on it,im just wondering if car has an immobiliser on it as standard and if its that, that is causing the problem,or if the pump is workin but not sendin petrol through, fanks again 4 yor brain and time craig.

Re: Escort 1.8 ghia x

Your next step would be to use a scan tool (I think they have a Diagnostic connector over there) to see if the ECM is commanding the pump on or if it a ECM power, or ECM issue, It may be time to have a shop look at it.
