Starter problem

Hi, I need help figuring out why my 1988 chevy camaro won't start, not even a click. I bought a new starter and battery, can someone help me out?

Hi quenga6 and welcome to TSF,

The first thing to do is see if the start signal is reaching the starter. You will need a test lamp or multimeter. Get someone to help and while they turn the key to Start, measure the voltage on the wire going to the starter solenoid.

Make sures the shifter is in park or neutral. There is a switch there that prevents voltage to the starter if in the wrong gear.

Check your fuses. I don't have prints on the 88, so I can't tell you which fuse that is would likely be. Probably has "ign" marked by the fuse.

If you need to trouble shoot the electrical system, we will need some prints.
The oldest cheve prints I have start at 1994.

Let us know what you find.
