i need help with my s10

i recently bought a 1988 s10 i was coming home one day and it started smoking i pulled over and popped the hood and oil had leaked onto the exhaust manifold its a 2.5 4 cylinder, all that got messed up from what i can tell was the plugs and plug wires i replaced them along with the distributor cap and the rotor button my step-dad is a mechanic and he helped me and now we can't get the truck to crank its a manual transmission so i put it in nuetral while we worked on it and i tried cranking it and now all it does is spin please respond i need my truck

Let me think on it for a little while....

What is spinning?? Just the starter?? Or is the engine turning over without starting??

Maybe MT or one of the other mods will move this thread to a better location here at TSF.
