2004 Acura RSX
howls or whistles when I get up to around 70 to 80 mph. It doesn't even do it all of the time. Rarely does it do this in the winter but when the spring and summer rolls around I can count on it. It is annoying and gets fairly loud. The noise seems to come from around the moonroof as I can "pop" the back of it open just a little bit and it will stop but then I have to deal with the wind noise. The car is still under warranty, I just haven't had time to take it to the dealer. It has been doing this for a couple of years though. Any thoughts?

Re: 2004 Acura RSX
I've had this problem before. It's a tiny amount of air leaking through a seal. The pressure inside the cabin lowers relative to the outside pressure the faster you go and makes the whistle louder. My problem meant a new windscreen seal. Some newer vehicles don't have proper moulded seals, but are glue-in units. It's not unusual for these units to fail occasionally due to the formation of the 'liquid' seal as the sealant sets. See your service agent.
It may not even be your moon roof. winding down a window will equalise the pressure and lessen the noise too. Last edited by easyas; 09-01-2008 at 08:51 PM. |
