EEK! Help-Something broke while checking fuse in 96 jeep cherokee

We removed the 20 amp fuse that controls the turn signals, (randomly selected this one for reference of how to look for a bad fuse) now when we put it back in place the turn signals no longer work. It looks like one of the metal prongs that the fuse plugs into is missing. We did not see anything come out when the fuse was removed. But it is clearing not there! Are we in trouble, and now going to have to replace the entire fuse box and take it to a repair shop and spend lots of money? Please help!!

Re: Help-Something broke while checking fuse in 96 jeep cherokee

Hi and welcome to the forum

Sorry that no one has gotten back to you.............

I just don't see and easy simple and cheap fix, if the one tab from the fuse, is in fact broke off in the holder. I have assumed that you have tried a new fuse.

The fuse can be wired around and a seperate line with a fuse could be used.

One word of caution............disconnect the battery when playing around with the fuse block.

Re: Help-Something broke while checking fuse in 96 jeep cherokee

Hi glojo91,

I think Basementgeek said it pretty well for all of us. I know that I usually don't reply to a thread if I can't offer good advice.

If you want to save some money and have the gusto to try it, go to a wrecking yard and get the parts needed to replace the fuse box. Pick a day when you are in a good mood and turn on the radio and go to work.
I can assure you that all of us have been there on a job of that type.
If you drink beer, count the cans at the end of the job to determine the level of effort

Sorry there is no easy solution.
