1996 Grand Cherokee Wont start?
Hello,
1996 Grand Cherokee limited wont start. Looking at the dashboard after turning the ignition to ON position, all the gages like fuel, Battery etc. are all setting as if the ignition key was turned off. After few seconds all other dashboard light indicators go off except the fuel indicator light stays ON. Before this problem started, after driving for few miles and when the engine at idle speed, the engine light would come ON while the engine still running. I have not looked to see if I have spark, the engine cranks but that is all. I have checked fuse and relays and that is about all. I would appreciate your technical advise. |

Re: 1996 Grand Cherokee Wont start?
Very common with Jeeps is the CPS (Crank Position Sensor) has failed....easy fix. Located at the rear of the engine, on the driver side, upper portion of the bell housing.
The most useful "tool" that you can have is a Chilton's or Haynes repair manual for your car if you plan on maintaining your ride. They are not expensive and provide adequate information on making repairs and diagnostics. Best of luck. SABL |
