Re: pls help golf tdi knocking

Hi pezza,

A little more info would be helpful for the members:
Year of manufacture?
Mileage?
Is the "check engine" light on?
Type of engine (gas/diesel) and size?

With any info you can provide you will be helping the members of this forum.

Thanks and best of luck,
SABL

With a little research I found that this car is a diesel...I believe.

Re: pls help golf tdi knocking

Hey SABL, he said it was a TDi so that means it is a diesel. I thought those were supposed to knock. ;-) Not sure about you guys but I know next to nothing about diesels, however, I think we might all be learning in a few years as the new high mpg clean diesels get more common.

Re: pls help golf tdi knocking

sounds like an injector is leaking down while the engine is off. when the injector doesnt spray fuel to a diesel it will get a knock sound from the top end. the injector not spraying would also cause the engine to shake from the miss. only easy way to find the miss with it being diesel is to unplug the injectors while the miss is occuring and listening for engine change. other than that you will have to pull them out and have them pressure tested to see if one is leaking.

Bud.
