My husband has a 2006 Hyandai Elantra and his brake lights just stopped working, he bought new bulbs for it after he realized one burned out, the rest were fine but still not working. He put the bulb in and none of them worked still. What is wrong with his brake lights, could it be electrical? Is there any other solution than having to take it to someone that charges to look at it?

Re: Brake lights on A Hyandai
Most cars have a brake light switch hooked up to the brake pedal linkage that activates the brake lights. These can fail. Aso, some cars (GM for instance) send the signal from the brake light switch through the emergency flasher switch which sends either the brake light signal or the emergency flash signal to the lights. This can also fail so as to interrupt the brake light signal. Not sure about how Hyundais are wired but these are some things to check if you can find a wiring diagram like in a Haynes manual.
