93 Ford Taurus lost power on the highway won't start

I was on the highway doing 65 when all of a sudden my car started losing power. Even when I pressed down on the gas I was still not going anywhere. I need help on this problem.

Re: 93 Ford Taurus lost power on the highway won't start

tell us more about it.
1. Has it happened before?
2. Do you have any lights come on?
3. Does it turn over?
4. Recent repairs?
5. Anything that is relevant that may help us, help you
We could say anything is wrong with this car, imagine you are actually talking to someone on the phone or something. How would you want to ask and answer the questions that would maybe give some clues to what is actually wrong with the car.

What have you already checked out?
Did you add something? Buy something new for it?

Re: 93 Ford Taurus lost power on the highway won't start

My 95 has done this as well, apparently it's the fuel pump. When you first turn the key from OFF to ACCESSORY you should hear a soft whine sound which is the fuel pump. When mine is working correctly it'll be a low whine, and will be high when it's not working properly. If it is the fuel pump a replacement is cheap and generally within the abilities of the average do-it-yourselfer. You may also want to inspect the distributor, spark plug wires, spark plugs and the fuel filter.

Re: 93 Ford Taurus lost power on the highway won't start

This could be the ignition module. I had it happen to two vehicles. I was driving then all of a sudden lost power. When the vehicle finally came to a stop it stalled and then wouldn't turn over. Hopefully this helps.
