1990 mazda miata
this car had a valve seal problem so i pulled the head took it to the machine shop well i got it bac and reinstalled it.
now the problem. when i start the car it will idle fine and if i very slowly work the throtle it will rev but if i just try to give it gas regularly is immediately dies. that happens with the air system unhooked if i hook up the air system when i start it it revs to 2800 rpm then falls to like 1300- 1500 rpm then back to around 2300 rpm then dies. so it is just like reving letting off then quickly reving again then dies. only i never touch the throttle. im almost positive i timed it correctly. all gaskets from heads up are new. the car was running fine just smokeing before i disasembled it so im sure i have missed something or installed something incorrectly. is there any way the sensor on the end of the intake cam can be 180 out? this is my first dealing with a miata just wondering if anyone might have an idea of what i have done wrong. or if you guys think i may be a tooth off on timing. thanks in advanced for any suggestions. Bud. |

Re: 1990 mazda miata
wow i was tired when i typed that 1st message.
the update is i took the intake back off looking for a vacuum leak never found one. then i realized i never hooked up the MAF when i originaly put everything back togather. so i reinstalled everything hooked up the MAF and nothing. it wouldnt even start with ether. so im confused as hell thinking what is wrong with this POS. well i back stepped one move and unhooked the MAF again and presto it idles again. but no throtle again also hit the gas and it dies. with it idleingif i hook up the MAF 7 prong plug it instantly kills the engine. so bad MAF or wiring trouble? any suggestions. thanks guys Bud. |
