94 Plymouth Voyager Brake problem

Having trouble bleeding brakes- replaced frnt pad's & rotors. Also both frnt brk hose's. New rear shoe's too. Replaced Master(twice). Can't seem to get any pedal after numerous bleeding's. (rt r, l frnt, lr, rt frnt. Did I mention, this has ABS. In the hayne's it says you need a scan tool to bleed it? Does anyone have a suggestion, or know the secret to blleeding this system- prefer not to get robbed at the dealer! HELP!! Thnx

Re: 94 Plymouth Voyager Brake problem

Im no expert, but Ive dealt with many a brake issue. Being poor we
tend to do our own mechanicing, if thats a word. Never heard of
using a scan tool to bleed brakes, I could be wrong, but doubt it.

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder prior to installing. You can
do it with the master cylinder on the vehicle, just poor in fluid and make
sure that there are no air bubbles coming out and the fluid is running
out smoothly, no air bubbles. Best to do off the vehicle, that fluid will
burn up paint.
Did you pull the rear hubs off to insure that the wheel cylinders are
ok, not leaking? If they are you need to replace, or rebuild, Ive found
that its better to get a replacement wheel cylinders.,the rebuild kit
usually saves you a dollar, not worth it, get new rebuilt wheel cylinders.
Then to bleed make sure all bleed fittings are tight. Go to rear of vehicle
passenger side, back passenger tire, have someone pump the brakes.
Then have them hold the pedal to the floor, loosen fittings, let air out,
tighten. Repeat a couple or 4 times, checking that your fluid level stays
ok in the master cylinder. Then go to the driver side wheel repeat.
Then go to the passenger side front same thing. If the fitting is open and
the person you have holding the brake pedal down lets up when the
fitting is cracked, you have just let in a bunch of air, which means
you get to start all over again....Good luck,,,

Re: 94 Plymouth Voyager Brake problem

I don't know this model, but has it got a hydraulic clutch for a manual gearbox?

If so then you'll need to bleed that too...
