89 probe no start
ok heres the situatioin. i was driving on the highway almost got hit soo i swearved and about 100 feet down the road the car stalls. soo i try to start it nothing.. start it again and she starts.. get to were i was going turn the car off. go back out to start it up a couple of times and shes jsut cranking not starting.. finally after about 5 min she starts. mean while when the car is about to stall. the tach gauge drops to 0 and the motor is still running, and u hear a little knocking.. soo after she started up i drove her back to my house which was 30 -40 mn away on the highway. got her about 20 feet from my drive way and she stalled and wouldnt start.. thank god for not a short distants to push her... and her she sits in my drive way.. i checked for spark and i wasnt getting any.. then about a hr later i checked again and she started right up .. soo i replaced teh cap and rotor this morning.. and shes still not starting up.. does any one have any ideas. I work as a tech at a local dealership.. but its not ford lol.. soo im sort of clueless in fords. i was wondering..though cause i pulled off the timing cover and seen some oil residue in it. where is the camshaft p sensor located on the 2.2's is it possible that it could have kicked the bucket finally. car only has 82000 on it. any help would be greatly appreciated as i need to get her to my shop to fix her
thanks |

Re: 89 probe no start
when you swerved did you run off the edge of the road? maybe a wire/harness got hit by debris off road and now the connection isnt very good.
as far as the cam shaft position sensor im not familiar with your car if it has one maybe some of the other guys here know where it is most of them are pretty sharp here. good luck keep us informed. Last edited by BUDFAN8; 04-13-2008 at 03:42 PM. |

Re: 89 probe no start
sometimes i've seen where speedbumps and swerving hard shook the in-tank fuel pump loose. the question is if yours has an in-tank pump, what make/model/year is the car?
