1999 Wrangler Bucking

My Jeep is bucking as I shift thru the gears. It's most in 2nd gear when I am half way down on the pedel. I have two choices either back off or pedel to the floor to stop the bucking. The "Engine light" has also come on. Someone suggested the throtle control linkage is dirty. They said I had three choices. Replace it, clean it with water or last find a mechanic who can check the code. Intrested in any feedback.

Re: 1999 Wrangler Bucking

Bucking can be caused by a lot of things like plus/wires,fuel delivery,TPS,CTS,cam/crank sensors etc.May suggestion is to have it scanned to see waht triggered the MIL.Places like Autozone may pull a code free which will give you an idea of which way to go but some codes still require flowchart type trouble shooting and may be the result of the bucking instead of the cause.

Re: 1999 Wrangler Bucking

Good Morning Gentlemen, yes I would agree with cardoc, some of these problems can be a nuisance to analyse.

I might suggest additionally before getting too involved that it might be an idea to examine the entire throttle pedal mechanical system and cabling for free movement.

Cheers, qldit.
