change fuel filter = problems?
Well the story.. went to change a fuel filteron a 95 chevy cavalier, the first problem was the side that had the threads wouldnt budge, some wd40 and some time and it got it to come off, no harm done, just took a while with useing a pair of virce grips and some other thing like that (sry forgot the name of it). Got the filter changed, put the new one on and got the threads tightened. Go to put the other side on, which uses a plastic clip (pic will be attached). There was also a small rubber band thing that came off, not sure from where, but I figure it went on the end of the tube on the filter. put the hose on the filter, it locks in tightly, check for leaks (luckly) and it comes out fairly quick. Comes downon that side too so I think it is that side. I never had a problem with the regular filters with jus threads. The car is needed tomorrow, so for now we tried putting a silicon seal on it to help stop the leak, letting it set over night though. I wasn't the one who did it so I'm not sure how that came out. But what I really want to know is how do I fix this the right way.

Re: change fuel filter = problems?
A pair of virce grips, generally not a good idea, line wrenches are made for this.
The little o ring I believe goes on the threaded side. BG |

Re: change fuel filter = problems?
The threaded side was fine, and vice grips worked being careful, turned out that the seal on the side with the clip went bad and needed to be replaced, which was dne by buying a hose kit and changein it. Seems as though the filter hasn't been changed in awhile and just in a bad spot on top of that.
